2008 ended with a bang for The Village Press! We were thrilled to find that in the recent Consumer Magazine trial that our Peta Mathias and Frantoio Olive Oils were highly recommended as the top two to buy.

Consumer put 21 extra virgin olive oils from New Zealand, Australia and Europe through a chemical test and also asked a panel of expert tasters to assess their quality. The results of the test showed that fresh is definitely best. The judges commented that the Peta Mathias and Frantoio oils had all of the qualities they were looking for - good aromas with lots of fruity flavours, well balanced and they liked our dark bottles which means the oil is better protected from the light and stays fresher longer.

Both of these award winning oils are now available to buy online or you can find us at the Black Barn Market on a Saturday morning in Havelock North or at the Farmers Market on a Sunday morning in Hastings. With anniversary weekends coming up in both Auckland and Wellington, it is the perfect excuse to visit the Bay.

 

Peta Mathias Olive Oil

Available in the 250ml size, this outstanding oil is Peta's preferred oil when she whips up her tasty dishes. This oil won a gold medal at the Hawke's Bay Olive Association Awards and was recommended by Consumer Magazine as one of the top oils to buy.

   
 

Frantoio Olive Oil
